Counseling services at Honu Counseling Services, Inc., are conducted by Kori Kuaana, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Hawaii. Ms. Kuaana is a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. She is a member of the American Counselors Association (ACA) and American Psychological Association (APA).
Owner and Counselor Kori Kuaana has been in the counseling field since 1998, graduated with her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Oregon State University in 2012. Ms. Kuaana’s work history ranges from youth-at-risk in a residential setting and their families, to adult registered sex offenders, and emergency room and secure psychiatric units in the hospital setting. Ms. Kuaana has worked as a Therapist in community settings with diverse adult client populations. Ms. Kuaana spent many years as an Employment Specialist and Statewide Trainer of employment services for individuals with mental illness in obtaining and maintaining employment and purpose.
Ms. Kuaana has clinical supervision available for clinical supports.

Honu Representation
Honu Counseling Services Inc. is set up with the life of a Honu, Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle found in the waters of Hawaii. Honu are born into po, darkness and life is produced and spirits return. Honu are found to be spiritual guardians, `aumakua. Honu lives up to 100 years and range from 3 feet to 5 feet long and weigh up to 400 pounds. Honu is named for it’s green color of fat and cartilage from feeding off limu (sea grass). Honu’s have determination, resilience, wisdom, connection, and safety. They travel at least 800 miles and with that comes challenges and they have overcome them, surviving predators and human-caused dangers. Honu’s bring good luck and lifelong protection and so to is the goal of Honu Counseling Services, Inc.

At Honu Counseling Services, Inc, we employ a holistic and modern approach in our therapy sessions. We utilize evidence-based techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy techniques, solution-focused brief therapy, gestalt therapy techniques, and motivational interviewing techniques to help clients identify and challenge thought patterns. At Honu Counseling Services, Inc., we provide a safe and supportive environment, encourage open communication and self-exploration, empowering our clients to gain deeper insights into their emotions and behaviors. Our goal is to help individuals cultivate resilience and develop effective coping strategies for life's challenges.
